Encouraged by their rapid rise to fame and fortune, derdiedada decided to take it to the next level and conquer the art market of the United States. That took approximately three years, although some members of the collective lingered in North America for quite a while after that. This period was driven by experimentation with new media and technologies, giving birth to a prolific body of photography, video, digital, and ar-art. Some of derdiedada’s works garnered the attention of fancy New York art critics, and the group’s idiosyncratic MS Paint Dadaism style became the Birkin Bag of the 2007 art summer. One of the most acclaimed pieces, “Any type of mobile phone”, allegedly inspired technology evangelist Chris Messina to invent the hashtag on August 23, 2007. The next year saw the release of “Trumm!”, a provocative video performance merging amateur acting, coffee, and reassuring promises of Neville Chamberlain. 2008 was also the year derdiedada published their award-winning poem „Teilwerk einer Orgel“, and the overpriced masterpiece „Zanetti“.
